Six Thinking Hats in Nodlin

Six Thinking Hats is Edward de Bono’s structured parallel-thinking framework that separates thinking into six distinct modes. By wearing one hat at a time, a group can explore a topic fully without confusing logic, emotion, creativity and caution in a single discussion.

The agent defines eight node types:

  • Session ๐Ÿ“‹ โ€” The top-level container that creates all six hat categories automatically
  • Blue Hat ๐Ÿ”ต โ€” The conductor: problem definition, objectives, planning
  • White Hat โšช โ€” The scientist: objective facts, data, information gaps
  • Red Hat โค๏ธ โ€” The heart: feelings, intuitions, gut reactions
  • Black Hat โšซ โ€” The judge: risks, dangers, flaws, difficulties
  • Yellow Hat ๐Ÿ’› โ€” The optimist: benefits, value, feasibility
  • Green Hat ๐Ÿ’š โ€” The artist: alternatives, creative ideas, lateral thinking

How It Works

  • Create a Session and describe the topic to explore
  • The six hat categories are automatically created
  • Team members contribute items under each hat perspective
  • AI assistance is available to generate initial ideas or QA the team’s thinking
  • Review and score contributions across all perspectives

Benefits

  • Structured Collaboration ๐Ÿค โ€” Separates different modes of thinking to avoid confusion
  • Comprehensive Coverage ๐Ÿ” โ€” Ensures all perspectives (data, emotion, risk, creativity) are explored
  • Better Decisions ๐ŸŽฏ โ€” Reduces blind spots by systematically examining every angle
  • AI-Enhanced ๐Ÿค– โ€” Optional AI can QA and score the group’s brainstorming quality
